How do Students connect to a Top Hat session?
Inside a classroom, students should use the SSU-Secure Wi-Fi service where possible to connect to a Top Hat session. Otherwise, activities may be completed anywhere with wifi access.
Participants will use either an app or a web browser on their device to log into Top Hat over the Internet. Registered students are entitled to register to use the Wi-Fi network at the SSU. It is recommended that they do this and so can take part in a session without any cost to them or without affecting their mobile data plan allowance. Once registered to use Wi-Fi, they can configure their device to connect to the SSU-Secure Wi-Fi or EDUROAM - doing so will allow them to easily connect to the Wi-Fi when they choose without having to log in each time.
Once logged into the system, if they are registered with more than one course that is using Top Hat, they will browse to the appropriate course to see the questions when they have been opened for voting by the lecturer.
